A mum is blamed for purposely suffocating her little girl in the shower at home before setting flame to her garden, a court heard.

Carly Ann Harris, 38, purportedly told cops who found the four-year-old's roasted body on an end table "blessed messengers instructed me to do it".

Little Amelia Brooke Harris kicked the bucket at the family home in Trealaw, Tonypandy on June 8.

The jury was told neighbor Megan Griffiths heard a raised voice saying "mummy, mummy, mummy" that day.

She and her accomplice at that point heard shouting outside and discovered Harris remaining in the front garden.

She purportedly let them know: "God will be with her. The heavenly attendants have taken her."

Opening the case for the Crown, Michael Jones QC, indicting, told the jury: "This litigant, Carly Ann Harris, slaughtered her four-year-old little girl Amelia by setting her in a shower of water and purposely suffocating her at their personal residence.

"The litigant at that point removed Amelia's dead body from the shower, secured her with a sheet, conveyed her first floor and put her body on a foot stool that was arranged in the back garden, and afterward set fire to Amelia's body."

After Harris was taken to the police headquarters she purportedly stated: "I have the right incredible. What the f***? My daughter. The heavenly attendants said it must be finished."

The court heard she additionally stated: "I'm a beast."

She told police she had been having "dreams of heavenly attendants" and was required to "forfeit her little girl so as to demonstrate my confidence".

The court heard Harris portrayed herself as an "a fallen heavenly attendant and needed to demonstrate her quality" and that Amelia would need to be "cool washed and copied".

Amelia's body had been "scrubbed down, enclosed by tissue and conveyed outside shrouded in a sheet".

She said she had taken amphetamine to make her "increasingly mindful" and "opened her third eye".

Amelia was wearing an extravagant jumpsuit and eating desserts when her mom advised her: "You will see the blessed messengers. See you in paradise."

One member of the jury was pardoned ten minutes into the preliminary since she couldn't stand to hear the horrifying subtleties of how Amelia kicked the bucket.

Mr Jones told members of the jury Harris had been shopping with buddy Nicky Jones and Amelia prior that day.

She said Harris "gave off an impression of being the most joyful" she had seen her for quite a while.

Miss Jones called Harris around 7.30pm to inquire as to whether Amelia needed to go to a play focus the next day, to which Harris answered: "We can't tomorrow since I haven't got Amelia.

"She's gone to paradise. She's sheltered at this point."

Harris at that point disclosed to her companion: "I'm just messing."

The court heard how a relative said she had "not been well" for about a month and a half before the occurrence.

Mr Jones said the relative portrayed how Harris had been experiencing uneasiness and trusted she and their family were being stalked.


Mr Jones stated: "He depicted how she had endured with uneasiness."

Mr Jones told the jury: "Despite the fact that this is clearly a frightening and grievous case, it is vital you set any feelings aside as you tune in to this case.

"There is no question regarding what Harris did that day. The proof that you hear isn't in debate.

"You will hear mental proof to the significant and overpowering emotional wellness issues that effect and keep on influencing Harris."

Harris denied murder and homicide at Newport Crown Court.

The judge told the jury they should choose in the event that she isn't liable of homicide by reason of madness or blameworthy of murder by reason of reduced obligation.

Harris, of Tonypandy, Rhondda, cried amid the opening of the preliminary and must be given a glass of water.
